Having Strange & Vivid Dreams Lately? Here is what may be going on...

The bridge between your conscious self and subconscious self is wide open.
It can be both psychological and spiritual; either way, it makes the experience extremely thick and unsettling even into the next day.
Emotional Integration & Regulation
Your brain is processing high-stakes emotions that you might not have had the "bandwidth" to fully feel during the day. If the dream affects you the next day, it's often because the emotional charge hasn't been fully discharged yet; your nervous system still believes the event was real.
Shadow Integration
Dreams provide a safe container for "Shadow" aspects: desires, fears, or truths that don't fit into your daytime identity. When these dreams are intense, it's a sign that an internal shift is trying to move from the basement of your mind into your conscious awareness.
Problem Solving (internally)
The subconscious mind doesn't use logic; it uses symbols. Intense dreams can be your mind's way of "simulating" solutions to a complex life transition or a creative block by playing it out in a metaphorical landscape.
If the subconscious is in deep processing, there are emotional rehearsals going on as well as integration.
From a Spiritual Perspective, things get a little stickier; these can be the ones that are hard to shake.
Etheric Integration
You may be undergoing a period of rapid internal growth. Intense dreams can be the "growing pains" of your psyche as you integrate new levels of self-awareness or wisdom.
A Thinning Veil
When dreams carry a specific weight or "vibration," it suggests you are accessing deeper layers of the collective unconscious or ancestral memory. The lingering feeling the next day is often the time it takes for your physical body to recalibrate to your waking frequency.
Symbolic Communication
If there is a recurring theme or a very specific atmosphere in these dreams, it acts as a "Bespoke Message." The intensity is a mechanism to ensure you don't simply brush the experience off as "just a dream," forcing you to sit with the feeling until you decode the underlying truth
Navigating the next day…
Don't get hung up on the literal plot of the dream. Focus on the feeling. Was it urgency? Grief? Empowerment? That feeling is the actual "data" your subconscious is trying to hand you.
Since these dreams pull your energy "up and out," simple physical acts (like drinking water, walking barefoot, or heavy stretching) can help close the circuit so you don't feel like you're living in two worlds at once.
REMEMBER
Not every unsettling dream is a spiritual attack.
Sometimes the unsettling feelings are meant to make us pay attention!
I had this issue a ton with people during the c-word times. Many were dreaming of raging wars and battles; they took it to Instagram and TikTok to say that they were under attack in a great war and personally being attacked. Maybe in a way, yes. But what I found most common during those times was the inner turmoil that people were going through. There was an internal war going on within all of us. To shoot or not to shoot? To cut people off? To join the herd or not to join the herd, and face the backlash that so many faced. There was a huge collective war going on internally that everyone could feel. That was more common than this demonic war that everyone claimed they were being spiritually attacked by in their sleep.
So is it a spiritual message or is it subconscious work??
Distinguishing between the two is less about the context and more about the "texture" and the authority.
The Subconscious, aka The Clean Up Crew
Subconscious dreams usually feel like a collage of your life. They are the busiest and noisiest. They can also be annoying.
Logic
They often involve people you know, places you've been, or anxieties you are currently facing.
It will feel like processing or seeing from another perspective.
They might even be replays.
The Why
These dreams are often meant to help you digest stress, organize memories, and release pent-up emotions.
Sometimes it is valid to have those angry dreams about people, as you cannot do it in real life
The Feeling
You wake up mentally tired or wound up. You will also be emotionally disturbed or unsettled.
It might even have your mind racing before the day starts, your heart pumping as if you had just been running on a treadmill all night.
Imagry
Symbols are often literal or slightly distorted versions of reality.
Example: your house, but it is different colours or has extra rooms on it.
You're back in high school.
Your space, but there are added or missing elements to it.
The Spiritual, aka The Messenger
Spiritual dreams feel like they came from outside of you, like there was some sort of visitor or interference.
They will have a weight you cannot place, or that reality lacks.
Logic
They possess a hyper reality.
Colours are more vivid, the atmosphere is heavy, the narrative is linear and archetypal rather than chaotic.
The way things flow won't make sense, but they will make sense in the moment.
The Why
These act as a playbook for your soul.
They are designed to provide a breakthrough, offer protection, or signal a shift in your internal frequency.
The Feeling
You wake up with a sense of profound awe, stillness, or knowing.
Even if the dream was intense, there is a clarity that doesn't fade, and you will be calm or feel ok with the chaos in the dream.
The chaos will not leave you feeling unsettled.
Imagry
There could be symbols or signatures within the dream. There can also be some aspects that you recognize as a guide, like a dragon, angel, mythical creature, cryptid, or even a place like Egypt or a sacred ground. The place will feel important.
There can also be animals in it that act with intelligence.
Ask Yourself: Does this dream want me to release something, or remember something?
If the dream leaves you feeling like you just emptied a backpack or sore like you have been carrying something, it was likely subconscious.
It was your brain doing the plumbing work to clear out emotional and mental blockages that you have been facilitating.
If the dream feels like you handed something, given something, or your energy feels different, it was likely a spiritual encounter.
Sometimes, the subconscious is simply clearing the deck so that spiritual messages can finally get through.
If you have been having many intense dreams lately, you might be moving through a phase of deep clearing to make room for a new level of something in your life.
